California 2028 General Election

About This Race

The California 2028 General Election will be held on November 7, 2028, to elect state and federal offices, including all 80 seats in the California State Assembly, 20 of the 40 State Senate seats, and California's 52 U.S. House of Representatives seats. Additionally, voters will decide on statewide ballot measures and judicial retention elections.

How to Vote

To vote in California, residents must be U.S. citizens, California residents, and at least 18 years old by Election Day. Voters can register online at registertovote.ca.gov, by mail, or in person at county elections offices. Mail-in ballots are automatically sent to all active registered voters, and in-person voting is available at vote centers during the early voting period and on Election Day. Californians do not need to show ID to vote unless they are voting for the first time and did not provide identification when registering.

Biography

Brian Dahle, a former California State Senator and Assemblymember, is the Republican nominee challenging Governor Gavin Newsom in 2028. A farmer and small business owner from Northern California, Dahle is running on a platform of reducing state taxes, cutting regulation, improving public safety, and addressing homelessness and wildfire prevention. He previously ran against Newsom in 2022, receiving 41% of the vote.
