The 2026 South Dakota Attorney General Primary will be held on June 2, 2026, to nominate candidates for the state's Attorney General office. This partisan primary determines which candidates from each party will advance to the general election in November 2026 to serve as the state's chief legal officer and head of the Department of Public Safety.

To vote in the 2026 South Dakota Attorney General Primary, voters must be registered by May 20, 2026. Registered voters can vote in person on Election Day at their assigned polling place, or cast an early ballot in person at their county auditor's office from May 23 to June 1, 2026. South Dakota requires voters to present a valid photo ID when voting in person, such as a South Dakota driver's license, state ID, U.S. passport, or tribal ID; voters without ID may sign an affidavit and vote a provisional ballot.
