These nonpartisan elections are conducted using a partisan primary system to select candidates who will advance to the general election in November 2027.
To vote in the Columbia City Council primaries, South Carolina residents must register by May 12, 2027, either online via the SC Votes portal, by mail, or in person at their county voter registration office. On Election Day or during early voting (May 26–June 5, 2027), voters must present one of the following photo IDs: South Carolina driver's license, SC DMV ID card, SC voter registration card with photo, federal military ID, or U.S. passport. Polling places are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
