To vote in the 2026 North Dakota Primary Election, eligible voters must be U.S. citizens, North Dakota residents, and at least 18 years old by Election Day. Unlike most states, North Dakota does not require voter registration; instead, voters must provide valid identification at the polls, such as a North Dakota driver’s license, state ID, tribal ID, or long-term care certificate. Early voting begins 40 days before Election Day and can be done in person at county auditor offices or via absentee ballot, which must be requested by the close of business on the day before the election and returned by Election Day.
