To vote in New Mexico, eligible residents must register by the close of business on the 28th day before the election (October 8, 2028) either online through the Nevada Secretary of State's voter portal, by mail, or in person at a county clerk's office or authorized registration site. On Election Day, voters can cast ballots at their assigned polling place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM MT; alternatively, registered voters may vote early in person at designated voting convenience centers from October 19 to November 5, 2028, or request an absentee ballot by mail, which must be returned by 7:00 PM MT on Election Day to be counted. Voters are not required to present ID at the polling place if they have voted previously in New Mexico, but first-time voters who registered by mail must show a current photo ID or a utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows their name and address.
