To vote in New Jersey, residents must first register to vote either online through the NJ MVC website, by mail using a voter registration form, or in person at a motor vehicle agency or county commissioner of registration office. On Election Day, voters can cast their ballot at their assigned polling place between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM; they may also vote early in person during the designated early voting period or submit a vote-by-mail ballot, which must be postmarked by Election Day and received by the county board of elections no later than the close of business on the sixth day after the election. Voters are not required to show ID at the polls unless they are first-time voters who registered by mail and did not provide verification at that time.
