To vote in New Jersey, residents must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years old by Election Day, and registered to vote. Registration can be completed online, by mail, or in person at county election offices. Early voting is available statewide for nine days prior to Election Day, and voters may also request a vote-by-mail ballot without providing an excuse. Valid photo ID is not required to vote in New Jersey unless registering for the first time by mail.
